From the Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — If you’re a Trussville resident or living in any of the surrounding areas and you’ve never had a street taco, your chance to try one is coming up as La Calle is slated to open soon.
Street food is a common practice in Mexico where food is prepared and sold by vendors in streets and marketplaces.
La Calle is the product of Maria Greguol and her husband, Francisco Garcia, who have both been in the restaurant business for 12 years. Maria Greguol said that she and her husband have spent the last seven months working to establish the new restaurant in Trussville, something new to the table in the city’s dining scene.
“My idea of the business began with a snack shop,” she said. “I wasn’t thinking of tacos, that was really his idea. He said that tacos would be great. There’s not really any taco places here in Trussville.”
Garcia currently owns a restaurant in the Pinson area.
“We sell all kinds of original Mexican street food here,” Maria Greguol said. “And that’s what I’m bringing over the the Trussville area.”
A variety of different types of tacos will be available at La Calle. Among those offered on the menu will be steak and chicken, along with chorizo, pastor, and fish. In addition to the tacos, Maria Greguol said that there will also be baked goods such as cakes and sugar gorditas, as well as homemade ice cream and popsicles.
La Calle will be located at Trussville Crossing Parkway next to Cici’s Pizza and Buffalo Wild Wings. For more information, visit La Calle’s page on Facebook.
