TRUSSVILLE –Trussville police are investigating after a Hewitt-Trussville High School student allegedly made a threatening post on social media.
Chief Jeff Bridges said investigators were looking into the matter, but did not feel any students or teachers were in any imminent danger.
“Our officers are investigating the matter,” Bridges said. “This includes speaking with the student and parents. When the investigation is complete, we will turn our findings over to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and they’ll decide whether or not to move the case to family court.”
The post on Snapchat stated, “I’m beyond done today. P— off mood on. Please stay on my good side today I’m ready to hurt and kill.”
“Students need to undertsand that what they say and what post on social media can have serious consequences,” Bridges said. “As a parent, I’ve talked to my children about this and I hope other parents are having the same conversation with theirs.”
Because the investigation involves a juvenile, the student’s name was not released.
