BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is requesting help in finding a missing 87-year-old man. Wesley Reed, Jr. went missing on April 9 after he was to take a bus to go to a checkers club meeting.
According to Lt. Pete Wiliston of the Birmingham Police Department, Reed was last seen on the 500 block of 24th Place North. He was to take a MAXX bus to Central Station on Morris Avenue before transferring to the 6 Pratt MAXX bus.
His final destination was the Checkers Club in the Smith Field Community but did not make it there.
Reed is described as a black male, standing at five feet, three inches and weighing 115 pounds. He has a pacemaker, as well as hypertension and other medical issues in which he is required to take medication daily.
A clothing description is not known.
