TRUSSVILLE –Behind the strong pitching of Michael Fowler, and the timely hitting from Carson Skipper. The Hewitt-Trussville Huskies cruised to a 14-0 win over Gadsden City. The area win, was the second in three days over the Titans.
Hewitt-Trussville was leading 1-0 going into the bottom of the third inning, before exploding for nine runs.
The key hit of the inning was a Carson Skipper bases loaded double into the left center field gap, clearing the bases and breaking the game open. Skipper, one of four Husky seniors, would finish the day going 2-4 with three RBI’s.
On the mound, sophomore Fowler kept Gadsden City off balance throughout the game. Fowler would only allow two hits, while striking out seven in five innings.
The night was started with the honoring of four Hewitt-Trussville seniors, Davis Burgin, Ed Johnson, Carson Skipper and Walker Sahagun all are moving own to play collegiate baseball next spring.
Next up for the Huskies will be a first round playoff best of three at Hoover High School starting next Friday, April 27.
