BIRMINGHAM — Yesterday afternoon, deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged a Birmingham man with several drug-related charges after a search of his apartment. A female at the apartment was arrested for allegedly receiving stolen property.
On Wednesday, police arrived at an apartment at the 2900 block of Gallant Drive where they arrested Tevaris Tate, 24, on an outstanding warrant for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.
When they went inside they discovered marijuana in plain view, according to the sheriff’s office.
Narcotics investigators were called to the scene to assist. Consent was granted to search the apartment, which yielded 49 grams of cocaine, 20 grams of heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, two handguns, and drug paraphernalia.
Police say that one of the handguns was reported to be stolen.
After his arrest, Tate was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he was charged with trafficking heroin, trafficking cocaine, unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $235,600 and he remains at the jail.
The female, identified as Brittany Odom, 28, who was arrested for allegedly receiving stolen property was released on bond pending court proceedings.
