BIRMINGHAM — Officers from the Birmingham Police Department are investigating the homicide of a man that was shot after an altercation.
At about 9:05 p.m. on April 30, officers from the West Precinct responded to a call of shots fired at the 3900 block of Court K Ensley. When they arrived, they found shell casings on the ground. In the meantime the victim, identified as Cornelious Tolbert, 31, showed up at the emergency room at Princeton Hospital. He was later pronounced deceased in the emergency room.
Investigators learned that Tolbert was involved in an altercation on Court K Ensley leading before he was shot. Police are working to determine what let to the altercation followed by the shooting.
