TRUSSVILLE – If you’re familiar with Mossy Oak then you may know them for their camouflage and outdoors products. But Mossy Oak has its fingers in different pies and one of those is in real estate, something that Trussville resident Carey Potter specializes in as one of its sales agents.
In addition to being a licensed sales agent, Potter is a certified land specialist, registered forester and certified wildlife biologist. He has been in wildlife and forest management for more than 20 years.
“I cover primarily the central part of Alabama,” he said. “Jefferson county, Shelby, Blount, St. Clair. I have properties listed in Jackson, Tuscaloosa, Clay, Marengo, Fayette, and Perry counties. Going into Mossy Oak Properties, of course most people realize the Mossy Oak name in camouflage but there are several companies that exist under its name: we have Mossy Oak Nativ, Mossy Oak nursery, Mossy Oak dog training, just a whole set of subcompanies.”
Mossy Oak is dedicated to outdoor sports and industry. It provides the National Wild Turkey Federation with its official camouflage, as well as B.A.S.S., Ducks Unlimited and the Quality Deer Management Association.
Potter said that the company has nearly 100 brokerage offices in 30 states of the U.S.
“We provide customers with the most trusted and knowledgeable certified land specialists to help them buy and sell land,” he said. “Recreational land or timberland. We’re the preferred land specialist across the country.”
He explained that each land specialist completes a 16-week certification program to help clients find and buy the kind of land that they’re looking for. Mossy Oak partners with the Realtors Land Institute, a national organization for those specializing in real estate sales.
In 2017, 25 Mossy Oak Properties offices were selected for the Land Report’s “Best Brokerages” list. Potter said that this was the most of any real estate company in the country.
Potter mentioned the online presence of Mossy Oak, which can be found at mossyoakproperties.com along with links to its subcompanies. Mossy Oak is listed in other sites such as Lands of America, Land Watch, Land and Farm, Landflip, Land Data Exchange and LandSearch.
The company also maintains the outdoor show GameKeepers. It also has several Youtube channels, including one for Mossy Oak Properties.
Potter said that he recently launched his other company: Potter Forestry and Wildlife Services, which he said helps clients with buying land and timber, as well as, forest and wildlife management services.
Land that Potter sells can be used for both sport/recreational use or for private living. The size of properties can range from a few acres to as much as thousands.
“I’m better able to give people an evaluation of the land, what they can do to improve it, how they can manage their timber or wildlife resources on their property,” he said. “So it just goes hand-in-hand with what I do with Mossy Oak Properties as a real estate agent.”
Potter has an online profile at mossyoakproperties.com. He can be reached at 205-372-9800 and his mobile number is 334-654-4043.
