From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — Two new eateries are planned for Trussville. Locations are yet not confirmed, but they may be openning in a new shopping plaza planned for U.S. Highway 11 between the Tutwiler subdivision entrance and the entrance to Calumet.
Metro Diner and Chicken Salad Chick are all believed to be scheduled to be tenants in the new development, corporate sources have confirmed to The Trussville Tribune. Southpace Properties are in negotiations with a thrid restaurant.
Metro Diner offers a full breakfast menu ranging from traditional eggs and bacon to classic Eggs Benedict. The lunch and dinner menu also indicates a wide array of entrees including a meat loaf plate, chicken and waffles, and Charleston shrimp and grits. A long list of hearty burgers and sandwiches are also available.
“Metro Diner may not be the type of place where you’d expect contemporary culinary techniques, a commitment to creating dishes from scratch, an award-winning presentation, unique recipes and imaginative twists on old classics, but it is,” according to the company website. “It’s that type of place because we cook with heart. We cook for the love of food.”
Metro Diner and chef Mark Davoli have been featured on the popular Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Click here to see video.
Stacy Brown started Chicken Salad Chick in her Auburn home, according to the company website. After perfecting her recipe, neighbors and the teachers at nearby Ogletree Elementary School began gobbling up her product.
Soon, Brown received a call from the Auburn health department informing her that she was running an illegal business. The call turned out to be a blessing that launched one of Alabama’s great success stories.
Brown formed a partnership with her future husband, Kevin, made the business legal, and became the wildly successful Chicken Salad Chick.
As you may suspect, the driving menu item is chicken salad offering a wide range creative flavors.
The timeline for the opening of the restaurants has not been announced, but property where the restaurants are expected to locate is being cleared for construction at this time.
