HUNTSVILLE –The Huskies fell behind 1-0 before unleashing the bats in a 4 run second inning to take the lead they would never relinquish on the way to an 8-5 win in Game 1.
Keith Lanum started the scoring off in the second inning with a 3 RBI triple followed by Ed Johnson’s RBI single to put Hewitt-Trussville out front 4-1.
The Huskies added one run in the third inning, two in the fourth, and one in the sixth.
Carson Skipper went 3 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBI. Caden Kirk was 2 for 3 and scored 2 runs.
Michael Fowler was the winning pitcher and turned in a stellar offensive day to match his defense, going 2 for 3 at the plate, including a double.
The second game of the doubleheader is at 7:30 p.m.
