From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TUSCALOOSA –Just nine days ago, Pinson Valley lost two games to Gardendale by a combined score of 27-0.
But Friday at the North Central Regional in Tuscaloosa, it was clear from the start that the Indians had put those losses in the rearview mirror and were here to battle.
There were no runaway innings. Gardendale scored two runs in the third and two runs in the 6th inning to build a 4-0 lead headed into the last stanza.
Pinson Valley came to the plate for the last time with hope and determination still alive. With two outs, Savannah Mayes belted an RBI single to get the Indians on the board 4-1. Jordan Walker singled and loaded the bases.
The potential winning run came to the plate in Charlotte Phillips. She worked to count to full, but the game ended on a called third strike. Walker took the loss on the mound.
The Indians play again at 3 p.m.
