Four communities in the Birmingham metro area have been listed in the top 10 cities in the Alabama’s most affordable places to live according to the Birmingham Business Journal.
According to a recent study by SmartAsset, New York financial technology company, Clay was listed as one of those cities. Other cities included Calera, Helena, and Midfield.
The cities were ranked on an affordable index, weighing property taxes, homeowner’ insurance fees and mortgage payments relative to income.
Clay ranked No. 6 with an annual property tax of $912, annual homeowner’s insurance of $1,638 and an average annual mortgage payment of $7,038. The median income was listed at $69,973.
