From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
MONTGOMERY –It was setting up to be a methodical, almost boring, rematch between Springville and Alexandria, but the 5-4 Tiger win turned into a thriller.
Springville picked up a run on a solo dinger by Kaylee Chapman in the first inning. Emily Robinson’s RBI single scored another in the second. Alexandria answered back with a run in the third, but Springville matched it in the bottom half of the inning when Mckenzie Brown fired the second homer of the day to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.
In the fifth, Brown added an RBI double to extend the Springville lead to 4-1.
Then things got interesting.
In the top of the seventh, Alexandria refused to die and scored three runs to tie the games at 4-4.
In the Tigers’ bottom half, Brown reached on a one out walk. Chapman doubled to put runners on second and third.
Dakota Dorsett hammered a 2-2 pitch for the walk-off RBI single and Springville moved on the face Rehobeth. That game is underway.
