BIRMINGHAM — A 65-year-old man has been charged in the death of a teenage girl from Birmingham that took place last Saturday, according to Carol Robinson.
Lawrence Moore, Jr. was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury or death after turning himself in to Birmingham Police on Tuesday. He was booked at the Jefferson County Jail and was released after posted a $15,000 bond.
The victim was I’akyria Rukell Kimbrough, an 18-year-old girl who was traveling with a friend on I-59 north when their car broke down. After they got out, Kimbrough was hit by another motorist, who fled the scene. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation and more charges may be filed.
