An Odenville man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted last week of rape, sodomy and production of obscene material of a child.
On May 14, Robert Armbrust Jr., 43, pleaded guilty to rape in the first degree, along with two counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old and two counts of producing obscene matter of a child less than 17. Judge Phil Seay presided over the child and made the sentence of life in prison without parole.
“It should not hurt to be a child,” St. Clair County District Attorney Richard Minor said. “Fortunately, with today’s sentence of life without the possibility of parole, Armbrust will never be able to terrorize a child again. As parents we tell our kids monsters do not exist, but they do. This monster will spend the rest of his natural life behind bars.”
According to a statement by Chief Assistant District Attorney Lyle Harmon, Armbrust committed the crimes between June and September of 2016. Armbrust and his girlfriend were babysitting a sick friend’s grandchild when Armbrust began sexually abusing her and videoing it.
