ST. CLAIR COUNTY — According to the Alabama State Troopers, one person was killed in St. Clair County crash on Wednesday at 4:45 p.m.
Troopers said the single vehicle crash occurred on I-20 at about the 152 mile marker near Cook Springs.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash occurred when the driver was driving too fast for the wet roadway conditions in heavy rain.
The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was the only occupant. The identity of the driver cannot be released at this time pending positive identification from the coroner and notification of next of kin.
The driver was pronounced dead after being airlifted to UAB .
The crash was in the east bound lane.
