TRUSSVILLE –Police are urging caution after two vehicles were broken into in broad daylight on Parkway Drive on Memorial Day.
“It’s best not to leave anything in your car,” Trussville Police Lieutenant Phil Dillon said. “Even if you cover a purse or valuables with a coat or something, they’ll take a chance that there may be something there and knock a window out. If they don’t see anything and the vehicle is locked, they’ll usually walk away.”
The break-ins occurred between between 10 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. on Monday at the Veterans Memorial and the Trussville Public Library parking lot.
Dillon said purses with cash, credit cards and other items inside the vehicles were stolen.
“Both break-ins were forcible with windows being broken,” Dillion said. “That’s a little unusual because they normally don’t want to call attention to themselves.”
Dillon said the investigation would continue, but police have few leads to go on at this time.
