From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
Much of north and central Alabama has been placed under an “enhanced” risk for severe storms this afternoon from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Damaging winds and hail may accompany the storms, according to AlabamaWx Weather Blog.
Despite the risk of wind and hail, tornadoes are not expected, though the public is advised to keep an eye on weather updates throughout the day, said meteorologist Ryan Stinnett.
“We do not expect any tornadoes, but remember strong straight line winds from storms can produce damage like a small tornado,” said Stinnett.”If you hear thunder, get inside. Lightning will be frequent. And, pay attention to severe thunderstorm warnings that are issued. Of course be checking the blog for frequent updates through the rest of today.”
