BIRMINGHAM — ALDOT recently announced that traffic delays are to be expected as part of an ongoing construction project with the bridges in Birmingham.
In addition to the intermittent lane and ramp closures mentioned in the previous announcement, ALDOT will close others on I-65 and I-59/20 tomorrow and next week.
On June 15, two lanes will be closed on I-65 northbound from 8 p.m. until 12 p.m. on June 16.
The I-59/20 southbound ramp to I-65 southbound will close on June 18 and June 19 from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m.
A full closure will take place on June 22 on I-59/20 southbound. ALDOT said that all Southbound lanes will be closed from 12 a.m. until 3 a.m. as “the contractor pours a new bridge deck that will cross the interstate.”
“Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.”
