BIRMINGHAM — A grand jury has indicted Michael Jerome Barber, 17, who was charged with manslaughter after allegedly bringing a gun that discharged and killed a fellow Huffman High School student in March.
According to Carol Robinson, his indictment of reckless manslaughter was made on Friday, June 22.
The Huffman High School student who was killed was Courtlin Arrington. The shooting appeared to be accidental. Shortly afterwards, Barber was accidentally struck in the leg by the same gun, a 9mm Highpoint.
According to the report, the charge is a Class B felony and carries a possible prison sentence of two to 20 years.
