BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred this Sunday morning.
On July 8 12:05 am, officers from the East Precinct responded to the 200 block of Westwood Drive (Roebuck) on a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate any signs of gun activity, but later received a call of a female arriving by personal vehicle and suffering from a gunshot wound at Children’s Hospital.
The victim, Arrielle Lashawn Parker-Jefferies, 16, of Birmingham, was pronounced dead 30 minutes later.
Officers received information that the victim was in the vehicle at the 200 block of Westwood Drive location when a dark colored vehicle passed and began to fire into the car striking the victim.
There are very few details on this investigation at this time. Investigators are attempting to locate witnesses and obtain additional insight to the details of the shooting. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
