TORONTO — A second victim has died after a gunman opened fire on the Danforth in Toronto’s Greektown late Sunday, wounding about a dozen others, the Toronto Sun reported Monday morning.
Just after 10 p.m., police, fire and EMS were called to Danforth Ave. near Logan Ave., for reports of a shooting. The area has many restaurants, cafes and shops and is busy with pedestrians on summer nights.
A man dressed in black with a bag by his side lifted his gun and began shooting. Toronto police say a total of 14 people were shot and injured. The police officers exchanged gun fire with the 29-year-old gunman before fleeing the area. He later killed himself.
One victim had been reported as a woman and information on the second victim was not immediately released.
Police spokesman Mark Pugash told The Associated Press that it’s too early to say whether the shooting is terrorism.
