BIRMINGHAM — Birmingham police are conducting a homicide investigation after a woman was found shot in her apartment.
At around 10:50 p.m. on Saturday night, officers from the South Precinct were dispatched to 23rd Street South on a report of a woman who had been shot. When officers arrived, they found the victim later identified as Sikeisha Mitchell.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office and Birmingham Fire and Rescue were called to the scene where they pronounced Mitchell dead. Investigators have located possible witnesses along with a suspect who has been taken into custody.
