Update: Police identify West Birmingham homicide victim

BIRMINGHAM – Birmingham Police have identified a victim of a homicide that occurred Wednesday, September 5.

At approximately 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, officers from the West Precinct responded to the 1100 block of Meadow Lane on a report of a person shot.  Officers arrived to find the victim lying in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound. The Jefferson County Coroner arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

The victim has been identified as Preston Robinson, 30, of Birmingham.

Officers detained a person that is believed to have additional information in this case. Updates will be released as they become available. No warrants have been obtained in this case.
