MONTGOMERY — Charges of making a terrorist threat have been laid against a 13-year-old Southlawn Middle School student, according to the Montgomery Advertiser.
The student is accused of calling 911 and falsely stating that a man wearing a ski mask and toting a gun was on the campus off Bellingrath Middle School.
Montgomery Police immediately responded to the call but discovered quickly that there was no actual threat.
Superintendent Ann Roy Moore was thankful for the response from law enforcement.
“We are grateful to MPD for not only their quick response to the report, but to their rapid arrest of the suspect,” said Moore in a statement. “We have to help everyone understand that reporting a bomb threat, or any false information about a criminal event at a school is not a joke. It doesn’t matter if you are a student or an adult. You will be caught and arrested.”
