MUNFORD— The Springville Tigers fell to the Munford Lions 45-15 on Friday night.
Munford quarterback Ja’isiam Tuck lead the Lions down the field quickly on the first possession. Tuck would find Ethan Swinford for a 10 yard strike, to make it 7-0.
After a quick three and out from the Springville offense, Kyle Ross would scamper down the Munford sideline for 57 yards, giving the Lions a 14-0 lead.
A quick change of possession later, Tuck would unleash a bomb for 55 yards to give Munford a 20-0 lead.
The story for most of the evening was the Lion’s defense. Tigers quarterback Austin Hutcheson was hit or harassed the majority of the first half.
Hutcheson was sacked on multiple occasions and the passes he was able to get off were either dropped or fell incomplete. Munford would hold Springville to just 43 yards of offense in the first half, as they took a 26-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half it was more of the same. Tuck would find Swinford again early in the third quarter making the score 32-0.
Springville would avoid being shutout when Cameron Bonner reeled in a Hutcheson pass down the sideline for 61 yards and a touchdown. The two-point conversion was also successful.
Hutcheson and Bonner would connect one more time this time for 80 yards, making it a 39-15 game.
Munford backup quarterback, Carson Tyree would cap the scoring on the evening. Tyree would connect with Joseph Morgan for 51 yards to make the score 45-15.
Springville would finish the night with 261 yards of offense, but due to the numerous sacks of Hutcheson, only 7 yards rushing.
The Tigers will host another set of Lions next weekend. Crossville High School will come in for homecoming. Springville will be looking to pick up their second win of the season, in their final non-region game of the season.
