From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE – Why does it always seem sickness seems to strike kids more often at night or on the weekends? While there is never a good time to watch little ones struggle with not feeling well, there is good news coming to those parents and guardians in the Trussville area who may face this situation. Urgent Care for Children (UCC) – open 365 days a year after-hours and on the weekends – is celebrating the opening of its Trussville location September 2018.
Located in the heart of downtown on North Chalkville Road – directly across the street from First United Methodist Church – UCC Trussville will be the first pediatric-specific urgent care clinic to open in the city. The clinic provides an affordable alternative to the emergency room for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, such as fever, allergies, coughs, colds, acute asthma attacks, flu, sprains/strains, earaches, bruises and lacerations, sore throat, insect bites and stings, vomiting and upset stomach, minor burns, diarrhea, rashes and other non-life-threatening conditions.
Urgent Care for Children COO Allury Arora, M.D., says the physician-owned clinic is laser-focused on delivering unparalleled quality of care to pediatric patients and their families, all with minimal wait times.
“We are so excited to bring our specialized approach to patient care to the Trussville area,” says Arora. “We chose Trussville for our second location because not only is this vibrant city ever-evolving, but we were also seeing a lot of Trussville-area patient traffic at our Highway 280 location. Because providing convenience is one of our goals, we wanted to be sure our newest clinic was centrally located to ensure ease of access for our patients and their families.”
The UCC Trussville facility features multiple exam rooms and comfortable play and seating areas and provides a full range of health services, including X-ray and laboratory facilities. The clinic hours are Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Arora says UCC came about as an answer to the needs of families having to face the high costs and significant wait times associated with going to the emergency room when a child became ill in the evenings, weekends or on holidays. While UCC wishes to be there for families when they are needed most, Arora says they are not there to compete with a child’s primary physician.
“We are staffed full-time with pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners who are providing compassionate treatment that complements the care our patients receive from their primary pediatricians,” Arora explained, adding that this means as a trusted medical partner, UCC proactively sends summary-of-care reports to their patients’ primary pediatricians after each visit, preventing a backlog of paperwork and the sharing of misinformation.
No appointments are necessary at UCC, and the clinic offers a convenient “save your spot” feature on its website to reduce wait times.
UCC Trussville is located at 117 North Chalkville Road, Trussville, AL 35173. UCC Birmingham, a designated Certified Urgent Care by the Urgent Care Association of America, is located off Highway 280 at 500 Cahaba Park Circle, Suite 100.
