JEFFERSON COUNTY — A flash food warning has been issued for the Jefferson County, according to the National Weather Service Birmingham.
The warning is expected to last until 1:45 p.m.
Some locations that will experience flooding include: Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Bessemer, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Trussville, Hueytown, Gardendale, Irondale, Leeds, Moody, Fairfield, Fultondale, Center Point, Pleasant Grove, Clay, Pinson, Tarrant and Midfield.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will likely cause flooding of small creeks and streatms, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
Please remember that most flood deaths occur in vehicles. The National Weather Service advises that motorists turn around when they encounter flooded roads.
Please report flooding to local law enforcement when it can be done safely.
