From the Trussville Tribune staff reports
TARRANT — On Wednesday, at approximately 2:15 pm, an individual went to a car lot in the city of Tarrant and asked to test drive a vehicle. The white female provided the employee with an Alabama driver’s license and stated she wanted to test drive the 2010 BMW on the lot.
The female left the lot and never returned with the vehicle. A short time later the business contacted Tarrant Police Dept and advised that a white female has not returned.
Officers responded to the scene and began gathering information on the incident.
Tarrant Detectives also went to the scene and began viewing video surveillance.
Tarrant Detectives were able to determine that the Alabama driver’s license that was provided to the victim was not the actual person that test drove the vehicle.
Tarrant Detectives then contacted the Jefferson County MACC unit and began relaying information to them. The MACC unit advised that there had been several cases involving the same person and identification being used at car lots.
With the help of surrounding law enforcement agencies and the MACC unit it was found that Cynthia Kay Lord, a Trussville woman, was the individual responsible for stealing the car from the victim in Tarrant.
Mrs. Lord was taken in to custody and transferred to Tarrant PD for questioning.
Tarrant Police were able to gather enough evidence to secure warrants with the Jefferson county District Attorney’s office.
She is currently in the Jefferson County Jail facing two counts of property theft in the first degree. Her total bond is $30,000.
