BIRMINGHAM – The Birmingham Police detectives are conducting a homicide investigation for an incident that occurred on Thursday, October 11, at 1839 18th Street, Ensley.
At approximately 3:26 a.m., officers responded to a call of a person who had been shot. After responding, officers located the victim, identified as Skyler Jamal Lewis, 24, of Birmingham, lying inside the residence unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded and found that the victim had died from injuries. Officers also located a second male victim at the location that was transported to U.A.B. Hospital for treatment and placed on critical status. Additional officers responded to the 1500 block of Bessemer Road where a third female shooting victim was located from the original incident location. The female victim was transported to U.A.B. Hospital for treatment. The female victim has been treated and released.
Investigators are still reviewing evidence and attempting to determine the motive behind the shooting. There are no suspects in custody.
