TRUSSVILLE – During the third week in October, students, parents, and motorist are urged to be aware of children entering and exiting the school bus as well as the knowing the importance of school bus safety.
National School Bus Safety Week is Oct. 22-26 and this year holds the theme of “My Driver – My Safety Hero!” This week-long campaign is an active, continuing public education program designed to promote school bus safety nationally.
The Trussville City Schools are joining combined efforts throughout the State of Alabama to educate approximately 2000 school bus riders, families, school staff, students, parents, and other citizens in the community about school bus safety.
Such activities this year within the Trussville City Schools’ 61 routes will include a poster competition where bus riders can submit an 8.5 x 11 school bus safety-themed poster to their school bus driver.
Winners will be selected by each driver, shared and displayed on the bus. TCS will also share the selected winners of the poster competition on social media sites such as Twitter, include tips, statistics, and other important information regarding bus safety.
