CLAY – The Clay City Council unanimously approved a proclamation Tuesday night in support of Three Hots and a Cot’s third annual Wreaths Across America project.
According to Proclamation 2018-04, “Wreaths Across America endeavors to honor deceased veterans by placing a wreath on their graves during the National Remembrance Ceremony on Dec. 3, 2018.”
Three Hots and a Cot is currently seeking individuals and organizations that are willing to be sponsors for approximately 1,000 to 1,5000 wreaths to be placed at Jefferson Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home Cemetery.
Wreaths can be ordered online at donate.wreathsacrossamerica.org, starting at $15.
“Be it proclaimed by the City Council of the City of Clay, Alabama, that we declare support for this 3rd Annual Wreaths Across America project and encourage all local businesses to sponsor a wreath,” the proclamation said.
During the pre-council meeting, City Manager Ronnie Dixon announced that Clay Public Library’s hours of operation have changed.
The new hours are as follows:
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursdays: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sundays: Closed
“Based on the times that people are coming, they changed the hours,” Dixon said. “We were not having enough patrons on Sunday to warrant keeping them open on Sunday.”
The next Clay City Council meeting will take place Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 6:30 p.m., immediately following a pre-council meeting at 6 p.m.
