BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department has reported that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred Monday at 937 47th Place North.
Police have identified the victim as Carl Dominick Beasley, a 27-year-old black male, of Birmingham.
Authorities have advised that at approximately 2:54 p.m., South Precinct Officers responded to the incident location on a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, the victim was located lying in the driveway and was unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and transported the victim to UAB Hospital for treatment. Investigators were later notified that the victim had succumbed to his injuries. A second victim was also injured by gunfire, but is expected to recover from his injury.
Police have also reported that investigators have not established a clear motive in this case. The investigation is still ongoing. No suspects are in custody.
