PIKE COUNTY –Five Oakman High School football players were injured and three were transported to the hospital when a wall collapsed on them at Pike County High School. The two teams were set to meet in the Alabama High School Athletic Association playoffs.
The injured players were taken to Troy Regional Medical Center with other suffering lacerations and other injuries, according to the Daily Mountain Eagle.
According to multiple reports, the cinder block wall was 30 feet long and six feet high. The wall was a divider in the locker room. The players were sitting on a bench in front of the wall when it collapsed.
All five players were slated to start for Oakman, which is located in Walker County.
The game has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Monday.
