JEFFERSON COUNTY — One woman is dead and four people have been hospitalized due to a crash in Jefferson County on Monday, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office.
The location of the crash has been identified as Highway 79 in the area of Higginbotham Road, it happened at approximately 10 a.m.
According to authorities witnesses informed sheriff’s deputies that a vehicle being driven by a 61-year-old female, who was traveling northbound on Highway 79, crossed into the southbound lane where it ran, head-on, into a pickup truck.
The female was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver, and three passengers in the truck, were taken to UAB Hospital for their injuries.
