TUSCALOOSA — Amid an already stellar year Tua Tagovailoa has crossed a major milestone. According to WIAT the quarterback has just become the new record holder for most touchdown passes in a single season at Alabama.
The previous record, of 30 touchdown passes and held by A.J. McCarron, was surpassed in the third quarter of Saturday’s game against the Citadel. A five-yard pass to Jaylen Waddle scored a touchdown and put Tagovailoa into the record books.
“A lot of credit does belong to my teammates,” Tagovailoa said to WIAT reporter Simone Eli. “It’s a tremendous opportunity, you know, that we’ve done as an offense to get to this point. 31 touchdowns, that’s cool, but we still got another game to finish off this season.”
That game is the Iron Bowl, where Alabama will face off against longtime rival Auburn, and it takes place on Saturday.
