From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
PINSON — Over 160 people showed up Sunday evening, Dec. 2, to attend the first service of Crosshaven in it’s new location at Pinson Valley High School.
Crosshaven is a worship service meant for those wanting a different kind of worship with a deconstructed feel. Clearbranch Associate Pastor Jeremy Auvil’s message began a sermon series called, “The Christmas Present.”
Crosshaven is a ministry of Clearbranch UMC in Trussville and has been meeting in Jeremy Auvil’s home for the past year. This worship experience has grown over time and Clearbranch’s existing relationship with PVHS allowed for a move into their auditorium each Sunday evening at 5 p.m.
In an interview last week, Auvil discussed how Crosshaven was a good fit for those seeking a more stripped down service or for those that have fallen away from church as a whole. It is about building a genuine relationship with God.
Clearbranch has an ongoing relationship with PVHS. Two years ago Clearbranch got word of a need for extra nutrition for their football team and answered the call with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. That relationship has grown to include more types of food and support through daily drop offs and relational ministry.
