HOOVER — For the second time in 48 hours, the leader of the Hoover protests over the shooting death of Emantic “EJ” Bradford at the hands of police has been arrested.
Carlos Chaverst Jr. was charged with disorderly conduct on Thursday night after being arrested in the Ross Bridge neighborhood, according to Carol Robinson. He was arrested for using a bullhorn in a march on the neighborhood.
According to reports, about 20 protesters went to Ross Bridge to protest at the home of a city council member at about 9 p.m. Chaverst was arrested just as the march began for using the bullhorn and the remaining protesters scattered. Most ended up at the Hoover jail to wait for Chaverst to be released.
He was released at about 10 p.m. after posting bond.
On Tuesday, Chaverst was charged with three counts of disorderly conduct and one count of loitering in connection to his earlier protests. The loitering charge came from allegedly wearing a mask during a protest at the Ross Bridge resort.
In total, six people have so far been arrested on charges related to the protest marches.
