TRUSSVILLE — Nine fifth graders from Magnolia Elementary School participated in their 2nd annual spelling bee on Monday, Dec. 10.
Prior to the school’s bee, classroom bees were held where the top three spellers from each class were given words to study and tips for being successful in the bee. After many rounds, Vivian Westin won the bee with the word ‘clumsy’ and Sky Russell was the runner-up. Westin won a spelling bee medal and all participants won gift certificates to Panera.
Westin will advance to the Trussville City Schools Jan. 4 spelling bee at the central office where students from Magnolia Elementary, Cahaba Elementary, Paine Elementary and Hewitt-Trussville Middle School will compete. The winner will advance to the Jefferson County bee to represent Trussville City Schools.
