WASHINGTON, D.C — A seventh child has been reported to have died in the U.S. due to the flu, according to the Center of Disease Control (CDC).
Here in Alabama, the flu is considered to have become widespread as the CDC reported an increase in cases in the South during Christmas week.
ABC33/40 reported that though it is too soon to know how severe the flu season is, the CDC and researchers report that since the H1N1 emerged in 2009, the severity has shifted from the older population to children.
Doctors say that there is still time to get a flu shot, although the average duration of flu season is 16 weeks.
