BIRMINGHAM — On Monday, the Alabama Department of Transportation will begin operations to replace the overhead signs on I-59/20 northbound and southbound from Milepost 105 just south of I-459 to Milepost 106 just north of I-459. This work will be as follows:
- Monday, Jan. 14 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., the I-59 SB right shoulder will be closed.
- Monday, Jan. 14 from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m., the I-59 NB right lane will be closed.
- Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., the I-59 NB left two lanes will be closed.
Motorists are requested by ALDOT to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
