TRUSSVILLE – The Josiah Brunson chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution announced that Hewitt-Trussville High School senior Houston Stephen Hall had won the 2018-2019 DAR Good Citizen Essay Contest.
Hall was presented with a scholarship check, award certificate and a lapel pin at the January meeting of the Josiah Brunson chapter of the DAR. A reception followed in his honor.
Four other area schools participated in the contest and each school had one student chosen as a DAR Good Citizen. From Center Point, Kori Harris was chosen; from Clay-Chalkville High School, Kamya Brewster was chosen; from Fultondale High School, Samuel Cook was chosen; and from Pinson Valley High School, Savannah Mayes was chosen.
Each of those four students has an excellent grade point average, participates in extra-curricular activities and is active in community service.
