From The Trussville tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville Huskies will have a new leader for the defense next season after defensive coordinator Rudy Griffin resigned from Trussville City Schools earlier this month.
Griffin’s resignation was effective Jan. 3 and approved by the board in a called meeting on Jan. 9.
According to multiple sources, Griffin was told in December that he would not be retained as defensive coordinator.
In 2018, the Huskies posted an 8-4 regular season record, scoring 39.1 points per game while giving up an average of 27.8 points per game. In 2017, Hewitt-Trussville completed an undefeated regular season with an 11-0 record. That team averaged 48.6 points per game while giving up 21.1 points per game.
No replacement for Griffin has been named or approved in board action at this time.
