BIRMINGHAM — An order from Governor Kay Ivey will ensured that flags will be flown at half-staff to honor Sgt. Wytasha Carter, who was shot and killed early on Sunday morning, according to WBRC.
WBRC reported that Carter and another officer came upon two suspects during the commission of a burglary. One of the suspects was patted down. When it was revealed that he was armed the other suspect shot Carter and his partner. Carter’s partner is still in critical condition.
One of the suspects is in custody while the other suspect is in the hospital, according to WBRC.
WBRC reported that flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on Sunday.
