From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — A weather roller coaster is ahead for the local area this weekend with possible storms and tornadoes, freezing temperatures likely, and a chance of snow flurries on tap.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, much of central Alabama will have a slight risk of storms with damaging winds of up to 60 mph and tornadoes will be possible. The rains will likely start after 3 a.m. Saturday with the best chance for severe weather locally coming between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The cold front behind the storm system will cause temperatures to plunge overnight Saturday and into Sunday morning. This could cause rain to transition to snow flurries, though little to no accumulation is expected. Temperatures on Sunday are not expected to raise above the 30s, with a high of 37 degrees.
Temperatures overnight Sunday into Monday morning are expected to reach the low 20s.
Sunshine should return Monday with a high of 46.
