BIRMINGHAM — Officials have identified a shooting victim found dead in downtown Birmingham near Railroad Park.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Ricardo Phillip Watkins, a 21-year-old black male from Birmingham.
Watkins was discovered on Tuesday at approximately 5:50 a.m., after officers responded to the 1600 block of First Avenue South to investigate a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located the victim lying on the side of the street unresponsive.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived with the Jefferson County Coroner and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
No suspects are in custody.
