SHELBY COUNTY — A grand jury in Shelby County handed down an indictment for reckless murder against a mother for the death of her four-year-old daughter after an accident with a train.

Amy Reeves Silver of Oneonta was traveling with her child on Highway 31 and Fulton Springs in Alabaster, on July 31, when her vehicle was involved in a collision with a train on a CSX line. Her daughter was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to court documents, the indictment includes charges of reckless murder, possession of marijuana, driving under the influence and failure to stop at a railroad crossing.
