BIRMINGHAM — According to Sgt. Johnny Williams, the Birmingham Police Department learned today that a felony warrant was obtained against Birmingham Police Sgt. Randy Martinez.
“Initially, the BPD was alerted that criminal investigations were being conducted by outside agencies,” Williams said. “After learning of the allegations, Sgt. Martinez was immediately placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigations. Upon receiving confirmation of the warrants, Sgt. Martinez was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.”

Martinez, of Kimberly, has been charged with three counts of first degree sodomy, felony second degree sex abuse and first degree sexual abuse with contact by compulsion. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totaling $80,000.
The incidents are under investigation by the Kimberly Police Department and Fultondale Police Department.
