BIRMINGHAM — According to Birmingham Police Sgt. Johhny Williams, detectives are conducting a homicide investigation after a shooting left one man dead and another wounded.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 7:25 p.m., Williams said.
Officers from the North Precinct responded to the 1100 block of 14th Street North to investigate a report of two people shot.
Officers arrived and located one victim lying in the grass unresponsive, Williams said. Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived with the Jefferson County Coroner and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
The second victim was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.
The victim’s identity will be released upon notification of immediate family. No suspects are in custody. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
