NORTH JEFFERSON COUNTY — An 11-year-old child was accidentally shot in the Pinson area early on Thursday morning.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported that they received notification of an accidental shooting of a child in the 8500 block of Taylor Drive at 12:15 a.m.
Authorities said that a family member had a weapon in a case that fell. When the case hit the ground the weapon inside the case discharged, striking the child in the arm. The evidence is consistent with an accidental discharge.
According to authorities, the child was treated on the scene by paramedics from Palmerdale and Center Point Fire. The child was transported to Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
