CENTER POINT — A 20-year-old man is in jail after allegedly burglarizing Center Point High School on two occasions.

A tip called into Crime Stoppers led to the arrest of Vernard Johnson Jr, 20, who is now facing charges for first degree theft of property, third degree burglary and third degree theft of property, officials said.
According to law enforcement, school administrators were able to provide good video and photos of the offender to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Those images were sent out on Crime Stoppers and other law enforcement outlets. Someone recognized the offender and called to give his name.
Sheriff’s detectives located the subject and developed supporting evidence against him. Deputies and detectives were able to recover some of the stolen items, according to the sheriff’s office.
Vernard Johnson is currently in jail on bonds totaling $55,000.00.
